Due to numerous pathologies such as constipation, dysentery, fissures, haemorrhoidal congestion, infections, proctitis, colitis and psychological stress, the anal sphincter may undergo a spastic narrowing. If the spasm becomes persistent, the channel becomes incapable of relaxing, which causes difficulty in defecating. In this continuous process of pathology – narrowing – pain, a vicious cycle is born which aggravates dysfunctions. The Dilatan® anal dilators, studied and realized specifically for this disorder, exploit cryothermal power to bring benefits.
While not surgically eliminating the fissures and while not reducing the masses of haemorrhoidal tissue responsible for the disorders, the patient can significantly reduce the disorders through the use of hot or cold applications. Thermotherapy (heat therapy) and cryotherapy (cold therapy) indeed allow to bring benefits to many anal pathological conditions. Bleeding and oedema, for example, benefit from cold applications, while heat is preferable in other cases such as muscle spasm and pain.

Thanks to their thermal action, the Sapi Med Dilatan® anal dilators allow to gradually dilate the anal sphincter, carrying out a sort of sphincter muscle gymnastics. They are made in three sizes of different sizes (20, 23 and 27 mm), collected in a single package, in order to provide the patient with the most suitable dilators for the pathology to be treated and for the anatomy of the individual.
